Abstract: This paper analyses Volunteering
in the context of the emerging Information Society. It examines a two-way
relationship: how Volunteering contributes and is positioned on the
Information Society, as well as how the Information Society affects
Volunteering itself. In particular, the paper discusses ICT Volunteering
as an asset for capacity building and Human Development. It argues that
ICT Volunteering should be a basic component of strategies aimed at
reducing the digital divide and to mainstream ICT into development processes.
