The @LIS2 programme was in general terms successfully implemented, both as a whole as well as for each of its three projects. As the evalution report details, they achieved most of what was planned, including some unexpected outcomes.
@LIS2 accompanied on-going, demand-driven processes in the region, making appreciable contributions to a more equitable and inclusive Information Society in Latin America, mainly through:
i. Enhanced policy and regulatory frameworks; e.g. as a result of the regional eLAC action plans national digital agendas supported by CEPAL-@LIS2, or the telecom regulatory exchanges brought about by REGULATEL.
ii. Better connectivity, reaching more people; e.g, from advances in broadband costs and coverage prompted by CEPAL-@LIS2, or the improved academic network put in place by ALICE2.
iii. Increased human and institutional capacity to use ICTs for human development; provided by all three projects.
iv. Improved contents and services; e.g. offerings by the RedCLARA network to the Latin American academic community, or from the research and publications produced by CEPAL-@LIS2.
